Patient policies and office procedures

These are our general expectations of patients, and what you can expect from us. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to a staff member or your doctor.

A safe space

Our staff value all of our patients. We respect patients of all backgrounds, religions, races, genders, sexualities and beliefs. It is our intention to create a safe space for all.

Missed appointments and cancellations

Every missed appointment is a missed chance to help another patient. Please arrive on time.

  • If you are more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule.
  • If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, it counts as a missed appointment. You will be charged a fee, because this is an uninsured service. The fee must be paid before another visit can be booked. See missed appointment fees.
  • Returning patients with more than 2 no-shows may be removed from the doctor's panel.

To cancel or reschedule, please call 780-244-5231. This frees your appointment for another patient who needs care.

Test results

For privacy reasons, you may be asked to come in for your test results. Whether results can be discussed over the phone is up to the physician.

One appointment, one patient

Asking about another person's concern (a child or spouse, for example) during your appointment prevents the doctor from properly assessing and documenting their health. Please book a separate appointment for each person who wishes to speak to the doctor.

Services not covered by Alberta Health Care

You will be charged directly for services that are not covered by Alberta Health Care. We follow the Alberta Medical Association fee schedule. These services include, but are not limited to, insurance forms, sick notes, prescriptions for massage and some procedures.

  • An appointment is required for any form request, so we can get the information we need.
  • Forms and paperwork are completed within 1 to 4 weeks, as per the provincial standard.
  • Payment is required before any forms are released.

See the full list of fees, or speak with reception.

Ending the physician–patient relationship

To keep the clinic safe and respectful for everyone, the following may result in care being discontinued:

  • Repeated missed appointments without notice
  • Inappropriate or abusive behaviour toward clinic staff
  • Not following treatment plans despite discussion
  • Using multiple primary care providers without telling us

Ending the relationship will follow the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) Standard of Practice, Terminating the Physician–Patient Relationship. You will receive written notice, and urgent care will be available for up to 30 days to allow you to move to another provider where appropriate. Referrals to other providers may be offered.
